The AL Live team has had a great time pulling together this new program for you. It's been years in the making really, a germ of an idea from online learning manager Dan Freeman and a former American Libraries editor, Sean Fitzpatrick. Advertising and marketing specialist Katie Bane worked with marketing director Jill Davis to help our national advertising manager Doug Lewis in promoting and selling the concept. Publisher J. Michael Jeffers and I worked out the budget and editorial schedule with all the team.
Technological innovations helped move the project along, as well as the valued assistance and support from Northwestern University Library. Dan put together a promotional video, testing all the bells and whistles. Our team met every few weeks to review clips and provide suggestions, down to the details like backdrops and which color tie to wear.
Finally, we all sat down and tried a live event together. There were creative screen credits and special effects, like eye patches and tiaras. We loaded up documents and home screens and shared them.
More important than all these cool features, however, is lining up great hosts to share their expertise. Dan has already secured a number of library heavyweights, beginning with Jason Griffey for our first show. We want to make each of these programs memorable, exciting, and informative. Let us know how we're doing!
